Thermal afterburning as process-adapted "one-off" piece
The company Birk supplies a thermal afterburner / thermal exhaust gas purification to a long-standing customer in the field of technical ceramics. The afterburning/flue gas cleaning was designed for a raw gas mass flow of approx. 5 kg/h from the flue gases of an upstream heat treatment process.
The plant has a special design of the raw gas inlet in order to meet the customer's severely limited space conditions at the installation site and to minimize the process-related maintenance and cleaning cycles required for this plant component. In order to meet the high requirements of the process-related exhaust gas cleaning process with regard to the exhaust gas components to be treated, the post-combustion plant was designed for increased treatment temperatures, while at the same time providing internal condensation protection against aggressive exhaust gas components and reduced surface temperatures.
In order to meet the increased internal noise emission requirements, the post-combustion plant is equipped with a comprehensive noise reduction package, which also includes the fans. All of these extensive measures and equipment require a total installation area of less than 1.8m² for the thermal afterburning plant. The plant has a full-surface contact protection, as smooth-surfaced cladding over all plant components. This is designed as a painted and almost completely closed sheet metal jacket and gives the system an elegant appearance in addition to its protective function.
The entire scope of supply also included the clean gas discharge, an equally hidden console construction for placing the industrial chimney system above the afterburner. The plant is constructed as a compact design, whereby it was delivered almost ready for operation, i.e. electrically and mechanically pre-installed, so that the entire installation including the commissioning for production readiness of this extensive exhaust gas purification plant could be realized in a very short time window. The entire control, regulation and monitoring functions of the plant are performed by an S7-based control system, which is equipped with a user-friendly visualisation with touch function.
